Exeter Phoenix - the amazing multi-artform venue and heart of Devon's creative and artistic output, are commissioning a whole bunch of new work - THREE separate commissions to be precise. Certainly an opportunity worth paying close attention to for any South West filmmakers or visual artists out there...
Short Film Commission
First off, two awards of £1500 will be handed over for the development of an 'inspiring and ambitious 10-12 minute narrative short film'. This is open to anyone based in the South West who has previous filmmaking experience.
Micro Film Commission
Secondly, two awards of £500 for a 3 minute narrative short film, which will 'engage a cinema audience though concise visual storytelling'. This is for Devon-based filmmakers only, but is open to people with any level of filmmaking experience, including zero.
Artists Moving Image Commission
Last off, one more award of £1000 for the development of a 'new single screen moving image based artwork for screen, installation or online display'. This is for any South West based practicing contemporary visual artists.
What's more, Exeter Phoenix are also offering extra support for winning applicants in the form of 'free/reduced equipment hire, access to facilities such as edit suites, rehearsal spaces, access to training courses as well as technical and creative advice and mentoring.'
Not bad at all, just what we like here at SYNC.SW - money and support for creators!
The deadline for submissions is 5pm, Wednesday 28 Feb 2018. Get your thinking hats on, put it in your calendar and don't forget about it - film funds don't come around all too often but deadlines always come to fast.
