BFI Animation Camp 2018
The British Film Institute fund four residential camps happening next year, all open to 16-19 year-olds with a passion for film.
Each camp focuses on a specific area - stop motions animation, VFX and computer animation, screenwriting and documentary filmmaking.
The South West's very own Calling the Shots are running the six-day animation camp in Bristol during half term in February next year, delivered in partnership with Oscar-winning Aardman Animations and the University of the West of England’s School of Animation.
An unmissable opportunity for young people interested in animation, applications are currently open until 5pm, 3rd December 2018.
You'll be stationed at Barton Camp, a beautiful residential training centre outside Bristol, with sessions centred around careers advice and master-classes with practising industry professionals from the Bristol animation scene.
Participants learn about every stage of production, covering story development, model making, animation production and post-production. The camp will produce five finished animated shorts from the 25 attendees, focusing on ‘lens-based’ animation, using cameras to shoot 3D models or 2D artwork.
So that's a whole of learning and making, plus you'll have an animated film to show for it!
With accommodation and food included, the course costs up to £210, but only if you fall into the highest income bracket. Depending on your financial circumstances, some or all of that fee will be subsidised. Due to support from funding bodies, what should technically set someone back £1,500 will cost you between £0-£210 - which is a pretty unmissable deal!
This opportunity takes place between Saturday 16th until Friday 22nd February, 2019 - so make sure you are available for those dates if you apply.
Get applying! And pass this on to anyone that might be interested in this opportunity - no matter their background or financial situation. If they have the interest and the passion then they deserve to be a part of it.
